Please take a look at this clip from a concert in Odense, Denmark:
For a music venue there is several reasons for wishing to encourage Muslim Women Music Makers. Most of them are obvious, such as the wish to present a variety of artists in order to attract a varied audience. The muslim population in Europe is growing rapidly and they are consumers like everybody else. If you look at traditional advertising, a main factor is identification. The fact is that mainstream music is mostly performed by men and women it is hard and sometimes undesirable for for a muslim person to identify with, and this goes doubly for muslim women. It is therefore of vital importance, in order to attract this large segment of the population, that there is artists they can identify with i.e. muslim women like themselves. It is also important, in order for mothers to allow their daughters to engage in the arts that respectable role models are present and available. We would like to see more muslim women on stage, because as Muslim Women Music Makers their contribution to the development of the music and the perception of female performers would be greatly enhanced. They can only enrich the experience of their fellow performers, the audience and all of us.
